Hospital Visit
Wednesday, April 23rd, 2003This morning Sandi had heavy-duty cramping in her abdomen that made her double over in pain. It lessened the rest of the day, down to just a mild twitching that hurt just a little. She called her doctor’s office and a nurse suggested that she go to the emergency room. We met at home and [...]
BabyBeat
Monday, April 21st, 2003It turns out that the heartbeat we’ve been hearing was Sandi’s and that we had miscalculated. We haven’t gotten a solid lock on the heartbeat thus far, but we’ve heard some faint whushing that sounds like a fainter version of Sandi’s heartbeat so we still feel good about the pregnancy.
We have other indications—daily vomiting, for [...]
BabyBeat again
Thursday, April 17th, 2003We received our BabyBeat doppler yesterday and tried it out. It was hard to find the heartbeat because a) we weren’t sure what it would sound like on the unit and b) we weren’t really sure where to look. If you’re interested in getting a BabyBeat doppler radar, please use the referral code of BR048014.
But [...]
BabyBeat
Sunday, April 13th, 2003We just ordered a BabyBeat doppler radar for $30/month. With the high-risk nature of our pregnancy, the rental fee is a small price to pay for peace of mind—knowing any time we want that our baby is still with us. If you’re interested in getting a BabyBeat doppler radar, please use the referral code of [...]
Third Ultrasound Pics
Thursday, April 10th, 2003Here’s the most recent photographs (via ultrasound) of our baby:
In the top pic, the heart rate shown is 162 bpm. That’s 12 bpm more than last week. In the bottom pic, you can see the baby’s length has grown to 31 mm from 11 mm—substantial growth—and a calculated age of 10 weeks, 1 day, which [...]
Ten weeks and counting
Wednesday, April 9th, 2003Yesterday we had our doctor’s appointment. As Bill noted I was quite nervous. But, everything went so well. Our ultrasound was perfect. The baby is growing wonderfully and has a strong heartbeat. I don’t think you ever fully get over a loss of your child. (Honestly, I hope I [...]
Nearly 10 weeks
Monday, April 7th, 2003Tomorrow is week 10, our next doctor’s appointment, and about the time that we miscarried in the last pregnancy.
We’re both worried about the possibility of miscarriage, but Sandi’s taking it especially hard. To say that the miscarriage last year was traumatic is a considerable understatement. It rocked our world and we’ve only just recently truly [...]
Since we can never seem
Thursday, April 3rd, 2003Since we can never seem to remember what names we’ve picked out, I think we should record them here. I’m very good at finding stuff on the Web—well, at least Google is—so it should help the old memory banks.
Boy: Timothy, Benjamin, Stewart/Stuart (still arguing about spelling, it’s really contentious)
Girl: Annie, Katherine (Katie for short), Amy, [...]
Second Ultrasound
Thursday, April 3rd, 2003As promised, below are the two ultrasounds from the latest doctor visit. For the record, they’re at 7 weeks:
I still can hardly believe
Wednesday, April 2nd, 2003I still can hardly believe that we are here. This has been an amazing journey. Let me digress for a moment and let you know how this little miracle came to be.
I have been diagnosed with PCOS since I was 18. At the time it was not that big of [...]
9 weeks today! Yeah! Everything’s
Tuesday, April 1st, 20039 weeks today! Yeah! Everything’s going well so far. Sandi is getting increasingly uncomfortable and she’s starting to show more.
Happy times!
