Friday, November 30th, 2007Today we had our second homestudy. It went very well. I am so happy to have this done! I am going to try to outline what is going on with our adoption. Note we are dealing with another country and much bureaucracy so there are always possibilities that this could change [...]
Sibling bonds
Friday, November 30th, 2007Today I was speaking to my Mother. I was talking about one of my siblings lives as a child and she was completely shocked by what I was saying. Somehow it was second nature to me, but she never knew. I thought that it was so interesting the special things that my [...]
Around the Web
Thursday, November 29th, 2007Here’s two articles I really like that you might also enjoy or find useful:
“The Secret to Raising Smart Kids”: this article may as well have used me as an example. As I read it, it seemed addressed specifically to me: everything always came easily to me so I put in hardly any effort. I didn’t [...]
Chirstmas smells
Thursday, November 29th, 2007Last week we made some Christmas decorations out of a cinnamon dough. The girls had fun rolling it out and cutting the shapes with cookie cutters. We also used a straw to poke a hole to thread the ribbon. We had a fun time and the house smelled wonderful.
1 cup cinnamon
¼ [...]
Review of Cafe Lalibela
Thursday, November 29th, 2007I agree with Sandi’s review about Cafe Lalibela. It was an excellent introduction to Ethiopian cuisine. While we were waiting for our meal to come, we discussed how we had absolutely no idea what we were in for. Both of us had seen pictures of Ethiopian food, read all about injera, and were familiar with [...]
Ethiopian dining experience
Thursday, November 29th, 2007Bill loves to try new cuisines and has been wanting to go to Cafe Lalibela since we have been learning about Ethiopian culture. I was definitely interested since we will be traveling there and eating the cuisine. I wanted to make sure it was something I liked. Bill has such a sensitive [...]
Hair glorious hair
Thursday, November 29th, 2007Hello my name is Sandi and I am completely vain about my hair. A bad hair day can ruin me. I can be so easy going about so many things. I rarely wear make-up out, I don’t have to have designer clothes, I don’t need to drive a great car, but I have [...]
Sickies
Thursday, November 29th, 2007The 5browns all have a cold.
It is kinda good that we all have them now since last year the kids were sick on Christmas and it was sad. Hopefully we can get rid of all this illness now and feel better for the holiday.
How are babies made?
Tuesday, November 27th, 2007In a funny turn of events our children are a teeny bit confused about how you get babies. We have been running from one end of town to the next week after week gathering more paper and always with the constant reminder from me that we need this to get baby brother. Today [...]
Groggy Mornings
Monday, November 26th, 2007Life really cannot be boring, even if you are groggy. This morning Annie fell into her dresser and cut her eyelid open. I took her to Urgent Care and Grammy met me there to sit with the other girls. They were able to glue her eyelid wound closed and use a couple [...]
Word World
Sunday, November 25th, 2007If you have not caught an episode of Word World on PBS you might want to. All the characters of the show are made with the letters that they are spelled with. They interact with letters and spell things. It is a great show and really raises the phonemic awareness [...]
Day after Thanksgiving traditions
Saturday, November 24th, 2007Yesterday I had a great day. I woke up at 3:00 am to go shopping with my Mother to get some great deals. I love this time with her. We always have such a good time. We got everything I wanted.
After that I came home and rested [...]
100 things I am thankful for
Thursday, November 22nd, 2007I saw this on one of my new adoption friend’s blog. I thought I would play along and do one of my own in honor of Thanksgiving. It was interesting while compiling this list I thought of good and bad things. Honestly I am thankful for both, each have made me [...]

Tetanus
Hepatitis-A
Hepatitis-B
Meningitis
Polio
Rabies

Malaria
Typhoid
To the world, bring it on we’re ready for anything!
Broadway Babies
Tuesday, November 20th, 2007On Sunday afternoon Annie and Kimberly were in their first Broadway Baby show. It was so cute! They really have been working so hard learning the music and the dance moves. I am so proud of their accomplishments. They are growing up to be such mature little ladies.
Grammy and Papa had [...]
If there is anything better than Christmas trees it’s the Ornaments
Monday, November 19th, 2007Inn a couple of days I will be setting up my Christmas tree and going through all my ornaments I have collected over the years. I love each and every one of them. Each one holds a special memory for me. I love that my girls are so interested in these stories [...]
Good Stuff
Sunday, November 18th, 2007We’ve been talking about books we like recently and I think it might be useful to collect all of those in a central place on the site. We read pretty widely in an ongoing effort to be better parents, spouses, and people. Eventually, I could see us adding capsule summaries or full-on reviews to further [...]
Day 2 of the parenting seminar
Sunday, November 18th, 2007Another sad day for the state of parenting advice that is out there. There were so many things that the teacher talked around and missed on some serious issues. For some reason she felt it necessary to say things very v e r y slowly, as if that somehow made them sound more poignant. [...]
Parenting seminar
Saturday, November 17th, 2007Today we took part in a mandatory parenting seminar given by our home study agency. I was really excited to see if there was valuable information. I would have loved to have taken something more than just networking with other adoptive parents, which is fabulous (don’t get me wrong), but it won’t help [...]
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Friday, November 16th, 2007I LOVE Christmas. I love to decorate for it and I love the feel the whole season brings. I love having kids during this time and am thankful that they are so much like me in their joy of the season. Normally I decorate the week of Thanksgiving. I am [...]
