When I have kids . . .
Thursday, August 28th, 2008“My kids are going to be so happy when I am their Mom. I am going to let them swim alone without me watching.” ~ Kimberly
I had no idea the whole “when I am a parent . . .” thing started so early, but trust me it is in full effect around here. [...]
My little Africa
Monday, August 25th, 2008I finally finished my Africa quilt. My final vision came true tonight with a little help from stitch witchery and a blanket stitch.
In my opinion it is super gorgeous!!!!
I plan to be selling a replica of this on the grand opening of my etsy store September 1st.
Wii to the extreme
Monday, August 25th, 2008“Hambone, can you help me roll this out?” ~ Kimberly
When we got our wii we all made our Miis. For some unknown reason, other than the fact that Bill is just a curious person, Bill called his Mii “Hambone”. Kimberly is completely taken with the idea and calls Bill this often.
The [...]
Number of the Day
Monday, August 25th, 2008Annie is obsessed with knowing the number of the day. This is some sort of news that she just can’t go on without. Each day she gets a thrill guessing what it will be from the context of the show. Finally, when the count a announces it, she jumps up and down [...]
Hyster Anniversary
Sunday, August 24th, 20082 years ago I had my hysterectomy and left ovary removed. I couldn’t be happier to be living without my uterus. It still is surreal when others talk about cycles and such stuff. It seems like a lifetime ago that that was part of my life. Having the [...]
24 weeks
Friday, August 22nd, 2008Yeah, we are still waiting. Don’t worry if we get a referral we will let you all know.
I would love to say that I hope it happens in August, but as the days trickle past that seems like a far reaching goal. Maybe by the end of September.
Praying that [...]
1st day of Preschool
Wednesday, August 20th, 2008Today Annie and Kimberly woke up super excited and ready to get going on their day. I had decided to do a photo journal of the days events. I got some great video and pictures to enjoy forever.
The girls had a great day. Last night I made a checklist for [...]
Change is weird
Tuesday, August 19th, 2008Today the kids had Open House at preschool. They LOVED it and were so excited. They met both their teachers and played around in their class today, exploring every nook. Grammy went along with the girls so she could see what a wonderful place they were going and where to take them [...]
My beautiful baby
Sunday, August 17th, 20086 years ago on a Sunday night much like tonight I was pregnant with my first child. I was preparing to start the school year off with a fresh bunch of 3rd graders the very next day. As I sat in my home that night I kept crying and telling Bill, “what if [...]
Come On!
Friday, August 15th, 2008(In your head, please read the title in your best Jason Bateman from Arrested Development voice.)
That’s right, it’s up to 23 weeks since we submitted to Ethiopia. I’ve got the cell phone charged and ready for any calls. Just so you know, Children’s Hope International.
Don’t Be Such a Baby
Friday, August 15th, 2008In the same vein as the previous entry but in a more humorous life, I found a story from The Onion in my feeds this morning:
“After decades of coddling young children, Johnson & Johnson unveiled its new ‘Nothing But Tears’ shampoo this week, an aggressive bath-time product the company says will help to prepare meek [...]
A Nation of Wimps
Thursday, August 14th, 2008I picked up this book several months back and read it while the kids were at swimming lessons. It certainly was a great read and full of so many helpful hints and thoughts about raising healthy, independent children. I meant to give my full review at the time I finished it but time [...]
Building excitement
Thursday, August 14th, 2008This morning one of Annie and Kimberly’s preschool teachers came to visit them at the house. They introduced themselves to the kids and talked with them about some of the procedures and expectations at school. The Girls were all ears and so excited.
They each colored a rainbow with purple backing because [...]
On hold
Tuesday, August 12th, 2008Today was not a good day for small appliances in my home. Unfortunately while I was getting my iPod out of the kitchen player before my errands this morning it slipped out of my hands and crashed onto the tile floor. The front and back came apart. I am [...]
Summertime FUN
Tuesday, August 12th, 2008This summer a huge part of our life has been the pool. Unfortunately getting good pictures near the pool is near impossible because people are always splashing and having fun. I thought it would be fun to get a disposable waterproof camera and get some underwater pictures. Fun was had by all! [...]
Mimi’s first haircut
Tuesday, August 12th, 2008Today I took the older girls to get their hair cut before pre-school starts next week. Ms. Mimi’s hair has never been cut and the super fine baby hair was tangling and splitting all the time. Also, I thought that maybe cutting it may encourage it to grow in more.
Mimi was so excited [...]
Feeling Africa
Monday, August 11th, 2008Yesterday I went to my favorite quilt store and bought some new fabric for a lap quilt. I found some that just screamed Africa to me. I love it. Today I cut it and pieced it together.
It is hard to see in the photo above but the bugs are metallic. [...]
Anticipating Consequences
Sunday, August 10th, 2008“I should go ask Mommy if I can go swimming.” — Annie
She had asked if she could get on her bathing suit in order to jump into the pool after Sandi finished mowing the yard. I said sure because Kimberly had already done that, but Annie stood there pondering my answer and then said the [...]
BBQ all the way
Sunday, August 10th, 2008Madeline has developed a seriuos love for BBQ sauce, specifically the Bullseye brand. It all started about a week ago when I made chicken sandwiches for dinner. I put some on my sandwich and she wanted to try it. From then on she was hooked. She eats it on everything!!!
