Annie’s Fabulous Five

By sandi | October 29, 2008

Today Annie turns five years old. She has brought us so much joy and wonder. Her personality is one of a kind and she is completely in touch with her childhood. She enjoys every moment, not allowing the next to spoil it. She is amazing and we are so glad she is ours.

Annie is on her way to becoming her own person. She loves to do things on her own and enjoys learning about things. I am amazed that she is five years old. I can vividly remember the moment her follicle was far too small to even consider finishing out the cycle of fertility medications. In my pigheaded stuppor of knowing her cycle was the last one I could handle of intense infertility I pushed on ahead. It is crazy to me that 5 years later we are here. She is one of my miracles and I am so thankful for her each and every day.

To begin Annie’s fabulous five photo post I have a picture of her moments after her birth. Her unique personality was evident from the very start. Most babies cry and cry when they come out. Annie was a little upset but also very calm and focused. She began thrusting her tongue in and out, and continued to do so for her first several days.

Annie has a nurturing spirit. She cares for everyone and wants everyone to be happy. She has always been so concerned with how we all are feeling. Here she is at 18 months, when Mimi was about 2 weeks old. She was so caring and concerned anytime Mimi would cry. She was so helpful, and continues to be, that we have to keep a close eye on her or else her love can be smothering.

In this photo she is 3 years and 2 months old. She has always loved and been concerned about animals. This began very young, she is our little Dr. Dolittle. I have yet to meet an animal that my little girl won’t befriend. Here she is with a caterpillar she found in our yard.

Annie is often seen as very rambunctious and rowdy. She often can keep up with, or pass, boys, but underneath that is this girl who loves to dress up and look beautiful. She wears dresses anytime she gets the chance and always looks great. Of course, she likes to romp in the mud or climb on the swingset in that dress but that is good too! Here she is at 3 years 5 months enjoying her new dress.

Annie has a serious sense of adventure and one of her favorite places to go is the beach. The moment you get her near the sand she is touching it. As we pull her off of it she is running it through her fingers. She is a free spirit and when she is at the ocean you can see that so clearly. Here she is at 4 years and 6 months enjoying the beach

There are so many things that I see in Annie that remind me of myself or Bill. She is an amazing little girl who is so much more than those 5 fabulous things. I am reminded each time that I see her that unthinkable things can be conquered and that miracles do happen. I am so glad that I pushed on when the doctors suggested otherwise. Annie will continue to hold my heart in her hand as she grows. She is insistant that she grow bigger and who am I to stop her. I am excited to watch!
