Picky kids

By sandi | November 22, 2008

Our children are rarely classified as picky. They will eat most anything and take polite bites of everything. When it came to shopping for their brother they were so picky. They want everything just right. It was so neat to shop with them and see their choices.

Mimi was the most concerned. She really hopes to bond to Paul and for the two of them to be like Annie and Kimmie are. She doesn’t say this in so many words as I am sure she cannot understand all she is feeling and put it into words, but it is seen in how she prepares for him. She wanted to share a room with him. She was the most involved, of the three girls, in picking out items for Paul. Everything had to be perfect for him.

At some points in the shopping trip it got to annoying levels. Really does it matter what color the bottle brush is anyhow, but there was a huge debate between pink or blue. Pink won out because as Annie noted, “Mommy would be cleaning his bottles and she likes pink.” How could Kimberly disagree with that.

After going down every aisle of Target and Babies R Us at least twice we have all the things we need to care for Paul, including a “I’m the little brother” bib. His sisters did a great job helping me find just the right things for him and I know he will love them.

They also bought him his Taggie for his birthday. The girls plan to wrap it up and pack it in Mommy and Daddy’s suitcase so that Paul can open it on his birthday!

I need to keep this in mind — if I’m doing a task, it’s okay for the item to be pink because I love that color. Who cares if Sam’s a boy or a girl!?

Wow — how precious that your girls are so very involved in every single aspect.

    That’s adorable that they’re being picky. :)
They’re going to be three very happy little girls in just a few weeks! How truly exciting! :)
