« Previous EntriesAnother year over, and a new one just begun . . .
Wednesday, December 31st, 2008It may sound like a John Lennon song but it is so true. (Also one of my favorite Christmas songs that didn’t make the list.) Do we really have two feisty five year olds who are becoming more and more independent with each day? Do we really have that sweet three year old who is [...]
Finding Normal
Tuesday, December 30th, 2008This Friday we will have known Paul for one month. Wow – only one month and yet it can seem like so much more . . . Arriving home during the Christmas season was a wonderful blessing. However, adjusting to a new son, who every experience was new, and keeping Christmas traditions alive for three [...]
Ad-Free
Tuesday, December 30th, 2008I just disabled ads for anyone who leaves (or has left) a comment. Our dear commenters shouldn’t have to see that stuff.
Slow to attach
Saturday, December 27th, 2008It is not a secret that it takes me time to attach to my children. This is kind of hard to explain but I will attempt. It isn’t that I am not attached with the – I would die a million deaths for you – the moment they are in my arms, I am. But [...]
Hard to share
Saturday, December 27th, 2008Sometimes it is hard to have conversations with people about what we experienced in Ethiopia. Not because I don’t want to share it rather that often I know that the information I will be giving out will be hard for that person to hear. When I tell people things about the trip I certainly don’t [...]
It was a Merry Christmas indeed
Thursday, December 25th, 2008Too tired from a wonderful memory filled day. I am just going to post highlights with a accompanying picture. You all just want to see the cute kids anyhow. Our tree after Santa visited Christmas Breakfast Kimberly loved her Barbie townhouse. Annie and Kimberly played with it all day. Paul and Mimi even took a [...]
Sick Girl
Thursday, December 25th, 2008My poor baby Madeline was sick again for Christmas day. Two years ago she was so sick that she barely even played with her toys. Thankfully this year she was able to get more into things and not feel so crappy. Here she is with the doll house Grammy bought her, she was able to [...]
Jump for Joy!
Wednesday, December 24th, 2008Today we went to Grammy and Papa’s house for the Christmas Eve celebration with cousins. This is always such a nice evening. Since Paul is new and Grammy really wanted to make the candlelight service at church this year, we started early. It was a nice change and the kids were far less fussy. Grammy [...]
Off to see lights
Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008It has been so rainy since we have returned from Ethiopia that we really haven’t had a good night where we felt good and that it wasn’t raining. Tonight was the last night possible to go see Christmas lights, (I know that people keep them up after the holiday but I like to see them [...]
Cheerio King
Monday, December 22nd, 2008We have nicknamed Paul the Cheerio King at our house. He loves them. Mimi will often rush off to the pantry and bring a handful of them for Paul to munch on. Cheerios and french fries are Paul’s most favorite American foods. He is now eating most anything that includes noodles as long as the [...]
And the award for most difficult teether goes to . . .
Monday, December 22nd, 2008Paul. Unless you know somebody who has such a hard time teething that they wake every 45 minutes during the night to scream in your ear. Poor Paul. Since we have met him he has gotten two teeth. The first one happened days after we met him and we thought he was just grumpy because [...]
Favorite Christmas songs
Sunday, December 21st, 2008Since the kids have already shared their favorite Christmas songs I thought I would make a post about some of my favorites and why they are. Grown up Christmas list by Amy Grant – love this one, it is simple and speaks to the things that we want but cannot buy. The Chipmunk song by [...]
Toddler Times
Saturday, December 20th, 2008When Paul was living at the House of Hope he was one of 8 toddlers. (BTW toddlers by HOH standards are any child who is mobile but not a proficient walker.) He loves interaction with toddlers and each time he has met one of our toddler friends he gets to happy. When he first met [...]
Who is coming to town?
Thursday, December 18th, 2008Annie loves to entertain and this piece really showcases that. I love the part where she wags her finger.
Distance
Thursday, December 18th, 2008“I wish they didn’t live so far away.” ~ Annie Today as we were opening up our Christmas cards we got one from our friends up in Idaho. The girls really missed seeing their friends Christa and Cassidy and Baby Jack (who isn’t much of a baby anymore.) Hopefully we will be able to meet [...]
Preschool Holiday Party
Thursday, December 18th, 2008Today we were invited to Annie and Kimberly’s preschool holiday party. When we arrived it was still playground time so we went out to join them. Mimi loved being able to play on the equipment. They had green cupcakes and fruit for snack. Mimi was invited to join in. I am not sure who was [...]
Frosty
Thursday, December 18th, 2008Here is Kimberly singing Frosty. I love it when she says “with a clump clump face.” Oddly enough this morning she was all over Mimi because she doesn’t say all the words of Rudolph correctly.
This one is for Papa
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008Today while Mommy and Daddy finished up some Christmas shopping Mimi stayed at Grammy and Papa’s shop. Apparently she sang Rudolph over and over to Papa for about 20 minutes. Just in case he needs to hear it again here she is. I love all the mix-ups of words and phrases.
Happy Birthday Didi
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008“Mom, today is Didi’s birthday!” ~ Mimi Each day Mimi tells this to me. Honestly I put this in the category of “Quote of the Day” but really it should be “Quote of EVERYDAY.” She loves to say that it is Didi’s birthday and to make him playdough cakes and dress him up. Meet Didi, [...]
Paul’s first Christmas cookie baking
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008Tonight we made store bought sugar cookies with sprinkles. The girls love decorating them and Paul got his first experience at making them. He loved it!
