Cloth diapers

We decided to cloth diaper Paul. This was not a decision made because we felt that the world was being overrun with disposable diapers. It was made more because we are having our fourth child and it made economic sense. I have been sewing for some time so I was able to make the covers for the diapers. The girls and I had a great time visiting the quilt shop and buying fun fat quarters! Again, another time that they were so picky about things for their brother.
I have two friends who graciously accepted the challenge of making me some fitted diapers.

I plan to use liners so that I do not have to ever touch poop. Anyone who knows me knows how this would make me freak out. I hope they work out well. At this point we have a lot invested in them. It would be a shame to have to go back to disposables after all this effort.

I have a selection of small diaper covers (all except 2 are manufactured) and a couple dozen chinese prefold…if you are interested (but they might be too small). I bought them for Ian, but just could not figure out how to find the time in the day to make a “system” to use them. Also, I never could figure out how to get them to fit quite right. I used the wool covers a couple of times to help when I was tring to get rid of a diaper rash, it worked pretty good. (I know what you mean about the cost, I was pretty sad I could not make it work.) Good Luck, I bet you will have sucess. You have a lot more experience with all the baby things that took all my energy and effort to figure out.

We’re planning on using cloth too; specifically the all-in-one BumGenius diaps. This decision was partially environmental, partially financial and partially because I’ve heard it’s better for baby’s sensitive skin.
People definitely have strong opinions either way. I’ve heard everything from “good for you” to “are you CRAZY????”
You’re covers are way cute PS- are you on the AZ cloth diapering yahoo group? (VERY infomative)
