Old Friends
By sandi | May 21, 2009
Today while surfing the internet Paul was sitting on the desk watching me. He was mainly poking my eyes or getting in the way of me reading anything on the screen but that is what he does best. I pulled up a blog that I read about a family who adopted two children who Paul lived with at the House of Hope in Ethiopia. He started laughing immediately when he saw the picture and he started laughing and actually said his name.
I was shocked. Generally it is hard to know how much Paul remembers from him time in Ethiopia. He seems to think about something if we call him Teferi or Ambase, but we are never sure. Today it was completely clear that he saw his friend Fuad.

He loved playing peek-a-boo with him when he was in Ethiopia. Fuad was the person who made Paul laugh the first days we met him. I feel a strong connection to those children I met in Ethiopia and played with for seven days. It is neat to know that Paul feels it too.

This made me cry.
I’m glad our children are friends and I’m glad that we are, too.
