Browns & Noble

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Our next-door neighbor gave us some items today that she no longer needed, one of which was a heart-shaped wooden end table. We had it sitting in the living room when Kimberly had the bright idea of using it as a book store: Since Sandi and Mimi were sitting on the couch nearby eating chips [...]

Aliens invade

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Today we went to a birthday party. It was a space themed party and in the goodie bags were blow up aliens. The Girls blew them up when we got home and played with them. Later, when they were bathing I went up to help get everyone dressed and found where the aliens landed. What [...]

Big pile of goo

“Bye-bye Momma.” ~ Paul He said this after I tucked him in tonight as I was walking out his door. My heart melted. Paul says so few words and he really never discusses me since I am always here. It was so sweet to hear him say my name and bid me farewell.

Could she be any cuter?

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Seriously I don’t know if she could. As I brought her to school this morning we saw my good friend, Donna and she asked me this. It is hard to think that Mimi could possibly be cuter. Her first day went spectacular. She had a delightful time and really enjoyed herself. If you think she [...]

And then there was one

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Today was Mimi’s first day of preschool. We dropped her off without a hitch and headed down the stairs. Bill holding one little hand and me holding the other. We have never had just one kid so this felt weird. It is going to be a huge adjustment for Paul to not have his sisters [...]

Open House

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Today Mimi went to her preschool Open House. She was very quiet and moody this morning. This is pretty typical of how her nerves show through. Once we got there she was all smiles for Mrs. Larsen and Mrs. Thurman. She got busy and her nerves settled. She had a great time exploring and playing. [...]

4th time is a charm

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

It isn’t often that things can be passed down from Annie, Kimberly, Madeline and make it all the way to Paul. The first, and most obvious reason, is because Paul just doesn’t wear much pink. The next reason is because my kids aren’t prone to growing all the quickly and they really get the use [...]

Knowing Her, Probably

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

“Let’s play Kewlopolis. You know, with horses.” — Annie “Kewlopolis? Is that all you think of?” — Kimberly Overheard in the pool as they were trying to decide what to do after the sustained spinning contest was over. “Kewlopolis” is some Saturday morning cartoon bloc; they watched “Horseland” this weekend and apparently Annie was quite [...]

Color choices

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Yesterday we had a family movie night. The movie choice was the Shirley Temple Movie, Heidi. It is in black and white and I didn’t even think about how the kids might not respond well to that. To our surprise they did very well with it. They asked when we turned it on if we [...]

Never Too Early

Monday, August 24th, 2009

“Do rock stars have to go to college?” — Kimberly This is the latest in a long series of career planning discussions we’ve had with Kimberly. After I answered in the negative, Kimberly responded incredulously with “So they just make up their own songs?” This was, to my knowledge, the first career choice she had [...]

One small step

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

In 8 days this tiny foot will be going to preschool. It is so hard to think of her being ready, but she is. This week she has been solemn. I think she has been sad because the Girls started school and she is still waiting for her school to start. Finally her teacher called [...]

Holding on

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

“Love is stronger than death even though it can’t stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can’t separate people from love. It can’t take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger than death.” ~Unknown “Life gives us brief moments with another…but sometimes in those brief moment we [...]

Seen through my eyes

Monday, August 17th, 2009

I decided today to not take a load of pictures but rather to just soak up the day in my mind. I wanted to keep those mementos as snapshots in my mind. John Mayer said it best in his song “3X5″: Didn’t have a camera by my side this time Hoping I would see the [...]

Culture Shock

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Come Monday Annie and Kimberly will be kindergarteners. A fact that honestly has me shocked. Everyday I know it is time. They are maturing and learning at such a fast rate that formal education is a must. They are maturing and in need of some personal freedom to begin testing the waters of life and [...]

20 months

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Paul had his 20 month appointment today. He has grown a whole 1.5 inches in 2 months time! He is FINALLY on the growth chart for height!!!!!!!!!!!! (5th percentile) Big tears well in my eyes as I type that. A year ago my boy was 13 pounds and 24 inches tall. He is now 32 [...]

Barney lover

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Paul is in love with Barney the Dinosaur. He loves the singing and dancing and asks to watch Barney often. I guess it is typical since this show was also on Annie and Kimberly’s top five shows at his age. If I had to list Paul’s favorite shows it would be: 1. Barney 2. Wiggles [...]

His special treat

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

Yesterday for Bill’s birthday I planned a nice dinner for him. He loved French food when I met him. I had never really taken the time to figure out how to cook it for him until recently. I made him beef bourginon and he LOVED it. The kids weren’t really into it but it wasn’t [...]

Birthday Boy

Friday, August 7th, 2009

Happy Birthday Bill. Hope you enjoy the relaxing day we have planned for you.

Early showers

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

This morning we enjoyed a twenty minute shower. Kimberly couldn’t resist going out and jumping in the teeny puddle that accumulated. It was a nice break to have a morning shower. All the kids enjoyed dancing in the rain.
