Sock Monkey Palooza

By sandi | April 17, 2010

Today is Madeline’s Sock Monkey Birthday Party. We invited all the kids from her preschool class to join in the celebration.

She got up and got dressed in her sock monkey outfit I made her with the number 5 on her chest. I am still in shock that she is going to be 5. It seems like such a monumental birthday to me.

Her friends came and played on the jumpolene, painted monkey figurines, and had a good time. We ate pizza, fruit, veggies, chocolate dipped marshmallows, chocolate dipped pretzels, and cheese balls.

When it came time for the cake Mimi reveled in her friends singing Happy Birthday to her and blew out her candle.

Grammy and Papa had been working on a surprise cake for Mimi. What looks like an ordinary cake turned extraordinary once cut. Mimi was thrilled! Just look at her face!

My parents did a wonderful job on that cake. I cannot thank them enough for the time and effort they put into making the cake!

She got lots of wonderful gifts from everyone. She is a very lucky little lady and we are even more lucky that we get to be her parents. She colors my days with sunshine and laughter; she is amazing.

Do you see how big that sock monkey is?!?!?! She is currently sleeping and using it as a pillow.

I had to include one last picture of the cake. I loved it. So totally perfect, just like Mimi.
