My Last Preschool Registration

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

Today I registered the last little Brown family member for preschool. He will follow in his big sister’s footsteps and be in the Rainbow Room. The days have passed so quickly since I registered Annie, KimberlyandMimi in the school. I know that Paulie will have a year full of adventure and maturation just as they [...]

Mimi Lost Her 1st Tooth

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Madeline has had a loose tooth for a long time now. Each of my kids have gotten nervous when they are about to loose their first tooth. They really want to loose it, but since they have never experienced losing a tooth they are afraid it may hurt. They baby the tooth for a long [...]

The Room is Complete

Monday, March 21st, 2011

It is amazing that within nine working days our loft went from a huge open space to a completed room. The change has made a new room for Annie and created space for everyone to have their own room. Before: After: The kids are settling into their bedrooms. It was a long weekend getting all [...]

Little Voice

Sunday, March 20th, 2011

“I can’t find he.” — Paul, said while looking for his Bullseye stuffed animal. One of Paul’s little verbal idiosyncrasies is an inability to use the objective case of pronouns. It’s quite adorable.

Leprechauns Visit

Friday, March 18th, 2011

The kids came home from school yesterday with leprechaun fever. They wanted to catch their own leprechaun.

What Did You Say?

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011

We have a serious problem around our house with eavesdropping. I am not talking about confidential conversations as those don’t happen within earshot, but run of the mill chatter that goes on every single hour of every single day. There isn’t one of our kids who isn’t guilty of this from time to time. It [...]

Textured

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

The texture was put up on the walls today. It was loud and crazy. The room is really coming together quickly. The contractor thinks he may have it all up and ready Friday night.

Lost tooth #4 & #5

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Kimberly has been wiggling her front tooth for ages. She has paid so much attention to wiggling that one tooth that she didn’t even notice that her lower left tooth was loose. Last Friday night, while eating a dilly bar at DQ, her tooth just fell out. Today she finally wiggled her front tooth loose [...]

More Mud

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Not much of a change in the room, just more mud on the walls.

Homemade pasta

Monday, March 14th, 2011

For a while now I have been meaning to make some homemade pasta with the kids. I learned how to make it from my Grandmother and I wanted to show my kids how just eggs, salt and flour can make noodles. We worked on it for several hours and everyone was interested in different stages. [...]

Happy Birthday Baby Girl

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

Today would have been Elizabeth’s 8th birthday. Today is different from all the other years that have passed. This year my Father is in heaven with her. There are very few times I ever heard my Father cry, but when Elizabeth had passed he cried. She meant a lot to all of us. It hurts [...]

Annie Earned Her White Sash in Kung Fu

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Today Annie tested for her white sash in Kung Fu. She was so proud of herself. Our little warrior is getting strong.

Poetry Contest Winner

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Kimberly loves to write poetry. During literacy week her school had a poetry contest. Kimberly was the class winner. She received an award on Friday. She wore the award paperclipped to her shirt all day. She was so proud of herself. Way to go Kimmie.

Teacher Training

Friday, March 11th, 2011

Last weekend I went to a teacher training to get my certificate reinstated. So many laws have been made in the eight years I have been out of the field that there are new requirements for me to be “highly qualified.” It is outrageous that a person who once taught ESL (English as a Second [...]

If I could keep myself from doing it . . .

Friday, March 11th, 2011

I want to focus on the house and make sure we get it painted this year like I planned, but then I get all itchy and need to wander. So far I have already booked three days in San Diego over spring break and a week in Seal Beach in the summer. We are going [...]

Boxed In

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

The drywall went up and it is easy to see exactly how different the loft looks now. Here is a picture from inside the new room. The photo is taken from the closet.

Cat Lover

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

Annie is such a cat lover. Each year “real live kitten” goes on the top of her Christmas list and she hopes her dream will come true. No matter the fact that she already has 2 cats, she still needs another. Here is the scene from her bed when I went to tuck her in [...]

Electrified

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

Day 2 and the electricity was put in. The HVAC guy came buy and said that moving the air 4 feet would be ridiculous so the vent doesn’t need to be moved. (This fact probably only matters to those paying for this since it decreases the price.) Drywall is being hung today.

The Cute, The Wild, and the Feisty

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

Since people seem to like to see Lucy, our standard poodle, here’s a picture I snapped the other day. I call it the Mexican standoff because I went up and down the stairs twice and these guys never moved from this position.

Things are starting to take shape

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

With only one day of construction in it is amazing to me that we already have a view of what this is going to look like. Frame is up and tomorrow HVAC and electrical come in. The kids love to come home from school and go see what Freddy has done. He is such a [...]
