Revisiting the Diagnosis

By sandi | August 5, 2011

A couple weeks back Paul had a follow-up appointment with his GI doctor. The good news of the appointment is that Paul is growing. :) He has grown a lot this last year. Unfortunately, while the medication had fixed his stomach issues for a while, his discomfort has been increasing and it was clear he needed more medication.

Paul not only needed more medication but the doctor said we should double it. The doctor was very concerned about the long term effects of the medication along with the fact that Paul still might be a celiac and the medicine could be masking it. He sent us away with an order for a blood test to check his IGG and IGA levels.

To say the least I was worried. I had thought we had closed this book last summer. As I had said in that post I had always wondered how long that diagnosis would hold true. For weeks I have been worried. Celiac is such a huge life changing diagnosis.

Today I finally got call back from the doctor. All Paul’s IgG and IgA numbers are in normal range thereby making it less likely that he is a celiac. Glory Hallelujah! I am praising God for this blessing. This is such a wonderful moment.

We will go back in a couple of months to discuss further Paul’s medication and whether or not we can do anything about it.

    Hooray!

I’m hoping you can find another answer besides more medication for his tummy.
