8 More Days of Summer

I sit here in disbelief that there are only 8 more days left to the summer of 2012. This has been the shortest summmer EVER. I am not sure if that literally is true but it sure seems like it. The kids just got out of school, now to return so fast . . . UGH!
It is no secret that I love summer. I love the heat. I love the lazy days (though I have had far less of those this year). I love the endless amount of lounging in the pool. I love the carefree days with a lack of schedule. I love the late nights hanging out with friends and family. Summer suits me.
In 8 days it is back to reality. Back to schedules, homework, packing lunches, getting breakfast in time for school, volunteering in the school, making sure everyone is learning everything they need to know to be successful.
This year is different from all other years as a mother and sending my kids back to school. This year every single Brown child will be entering school.
Paul starts kindergarten in 8 short days. My little man who it seems just arrived here from Ethiopia will go off in the big world. (I have so many different reservations about sending him to school than with the Girls so I will wait and put those thoughts in a different post.) It hasn’t even been 4 years since I first saw his picture and knew he was our son. Yet, here he is going off to school.
I am off to enjoy the last bits of summer that I can. 8 days will be gone in a blink of an eye. Ready or not the school year 2012-2013 is about to begin.
