Nap time

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Today I was exhausted so while Paul was napping I decided I would rest on the couch. I told the girls to quietly work on their art projects and to be respectful of each other and I laid down.
Annie rushed over to me and grabbed my head in her hands. She sang me [...]

Time Change

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Lately we have been having a very hard time getting our children to go to bed at their original bed time. They were starting with the I need a drink and I want to sleep with this person or that person. It was getting out of hand and we were initially punishing them [...]

2 months

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Pardon me while I weep, two months from today Annie and Kimberly will be kindergarten girls. A short week later Mimi will be a preschool girl.
I know everybody says it goes fast, but really . . . it does.

Splish Splash

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Today we met Erinn and Mikaleigh at the Splash Pad near our house.

If you compare that photograph with this previous one just 4 months ago you will be able to see how big of a growth spurt my little man has taken.
The kids always have such a fun time there and [...]

Shaving some time out

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

I don’t know what it is about this summer but we aren’t finding as much time to relax. It feels like we are always running. We are doing the same activities as last summer, where I felt relaxed and laid back, but I feel like we are stretched thinner. Perhaps it is just [...]

3rd Person

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

Annie keeps referring to herself in the third person. It is driving me bonkers.
“Annie wants this.”
“Annie wants that.”
“Annie needs this.”
Seriously I may go crazy soon.

First day of swim class

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Today was the first day of swim lessons. The Girls were up and dressed in bathing suits at 7 am ready to go. Unfortunately lessons aren’t until 11:30 so we had some time to wait and listen to the ever present, “Mom is it time to go yet?”

When we got to the pool [...]

Feed the Birds

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

Today we finally got around to making our bird feeders. We had gone to the park about a month ago to collect pine cones but never had the time to get everything together to do the craft.
We used pine cones, string, peanut butter, and bird seed.

The Girls had a blast making them and [...]

The end of something wonderful

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

All things must come to an end, it is one of the sad facts of life. Today Annie and Kimberly had their last day of preschool. It was such a wonderful year. I am crying as I sit here and type out this entry thinking of all the wonderful experiences my Girls [...]

Favorite Pair of Jeans

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Annie may only be five years old but she has a favorite pair of jeans. She wears them when it is cold or hot. She has worn out every inch of them and still wears them. It will be a sad day for her when we have to retire the ragged old things.
Here [...]

Strategy

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Today I was teaching the kids how to play Sequence. It was interesting to see their different personalities as they played.
Kimberly was very interested in strategy and got all giddy when she made a good play. She first spent all her energy blocking people, but eventually figured out that when she did that [...]

Gotta Know the Language

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

“How do you say ‘fast’ in your language?” — Kimberly
“Oonsalawntee” — Annie
“Oonsalawntee! Oonsalawntee!” — Kimberly
Overheard from the other room as The Girls were cleaning up the playroom. We also learned that “ahnsalawntee” means “slow.” I, of course, am not sure of the proper spelling of either word.

Beautiful faces

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Each year I take a close-up photo of the kids faces on their birthday’s. It is neat to look at how they change over time. Today I made a collage of all my Girls at four years old. Interesting to see mature and yet immature their faces look.

4 more months

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Today marks four months until all my girls are in school. No more Monday and Friday lazy mornings—Annie and Kimberly will have to be up and ready for school. I am glad that we had this year to get used to getting up and ready three days a week. I know they [...]

It’s on sale!

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

“My mom bought us Bingaroo’s and they weren’t even on sale!” ~ Annie
Annie told this to her teacher yesterday when she had sharing time. The item she is refering to is Bendaroo’s and I did buy them for them because I loved them as a child. They were not on sale and I [...]

Baking day

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

I have been trying to do more baking lately. I made a resolution for myself that I would learn more cooking basics and learn to cook more things.
I also want to make time to learn to cook more. I am the kind of cook who can whip something up out of basics, [...]

Annie’s the girly girl?

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Today was the big day—Annie’s preschool crush is having his birthday party. She got up so excited and got dressed in her favorite dress. Usually Annie procrastinates and gets on one item of clothing per fifteen minutes.
When I was combing her hair she told me to make it nice and pretty. This [...]

It’s a grey area

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

“Mom, there is an old bee by the swingset!” ~ Annie as she was running away from the swing
“How do you know he was old?” ~ Mommy (because I really wasn’t sure of her use of the word)
“Because I saw him and he had grey hair.” ~ Annie
I guess it is [...]

What can I do for you?

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Lately our girls have been obsessed with money. They want to earn money to buy things. I don’t want to just give them money to buy the things they desire so I told them that I had three jobs available and that I was willing to pay someone a dollar for each one. [...]

Someday I hope you grow up and have a child just like you!

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Well dear Mother that wish has come true!
Today was conference day at preschool. I went and listened to how bright and advanced my girls are and how they can go above and beyond the standards for their age—then I listened to how they behave.
I was informed that Kimberly is a [...]
