Annie
« Previous EntriesPut it on the list
Monday, March 1st, 2010Annie is very distractible and often “forgets” to flush the toilet. This is not nice for anyone who goes in after her. Bill and I get on her all the time about this.
On Sunday, she let us know that she thinks we should get an automatic flushing toilet. [...]
Contrasts
Thursday, February 25th, 2010This last weekend I witnessed two episodes that made me so proud of my girls (and, by extension, our parenting efforts). One took place at a bowling alley and the other at a McDonald’s. They were the exact same scene, but they played out very differently.
We were waiting patiently at the bowling alley to inquire [...]
Girl Scout Cookie madness
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010The Girl Scout cookies arrived on Sunday and as the troop leader it was my responsibility to get them picked up. I graciously passed this responsibility to Bill who was more than happy to help out. Once home they needed to be sorted into the individual Girl’s orders. My dining room table [...]
We’re sick
Tuesday, February 16th, 2010The kids and I have a nasty virus that consists of a cough, slight fever, sore throat, runny nose and grumpiness. We have spent days just laying around, drinking up fluids and trying not to be too crabby.
Of course Madeline always has to take illness to the next level, surprising me last [...]
Stuffed it up
Sunday, February 7th, 2010Today the Girls were invited to a Build-a-Bear party. They were giddy with anticipation. It was their first experience with stuffing their own bear.
When they arrived they picked out a bear and named it. They stuffed it, put a heart in, and picked out a dress for it. They [...]
Bingo Night at school
Sunday, February 7th, 2010On Friday night we went to the Elementary schools Bingo night. The kids had such a fun time eating at the school with friends. They were excited to play bingo. They have heard me talk about it plenty and were very interested.
As you can see from the picture above Annie and [...]
Father Daughter Dance
Friday, January 29th, 2010Tonight was the Girl Scout Father Daughter Dance. Annie and Kimberly were so excited for the dance. They have been talking about it all week.
I bought them new dresses for the event the other day. Kimberly approved of her dress by saying that it was good and twirly. [...]
100th Day
Wednesday, January 27th, 2010Today was the 100th day of Kindergarten for Annie and Kimberly. They had to make a shirt with 100 things on it. Kimberly’s shirt had 100 pieces of fabric fused to it. Annie had 50 pieces of fabric and 50 buttons hot glued on.
They were excited to celebrate the day [...]
Can’t you tell us apart
Sunday, January 24th, 2010Today Bill and I were trying to pick through our memory to figure out which child something happened to. We had narrowed it down to either Annie or Kimberly. When they were such tiny babies we didn’t get a lot of sleep and neither of us have much of a memory of those [...]
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Wednesday, January 20th, 2010Last week Annie and Kimberly studied about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in school. They learned about the horrible facts of racism in America. When they came home they were horrified.
As soon as Kimberly started to tell me what she learned she got big tears in her eyes. She said, [...]
Riding off into the sunset
Wednesday, January 13th, 2010Today we were out riding bikes. Annie asked if she could try it with her training wheels off. I thought today was as good as any day to try it out.
She was so determined that she could do it on her own. She was very wobbly and I held on for [...]
Sometimes you can’t
Tuesday, January 12th, 2010“Papa, I know you like this dress, but I just can’t afford it!” ~ Annie
Annie told Papa this today when we were shopping. She was trying on a ton of items. This particular dress was $26 and I had said nothing over $20. I told her it was too expensive and she [...]
Calling in sick
Monday, January 11th, 2010Today Annie and Kimberly were feeling a bit under the weather. Both had very low temps and runny noses. I figured it better to just give them a day of rest than to send them and have them get worse. So far that has worked.
They have rested on the couch and [...]
Winter Break
Monday, December 28th, 2009At the beginning of Winter Break I posted on my facebook status that I was so excited to have the kids home everyday for 2 weeks. People thought I was joking but really I miss the kids when they are all at school.
The amount of time Annie and Kimberly spend at school [...]
Kindergarten party
Saturday, December 19th, 2009On Friday I had the opportunity to go to Annie and Kimberly’s Christmas party at school. They had a lot of fun making Christmas trees and decorating them.
Making reindeer bags full of reindeer food.
And making Santa out of paper and cotton balls.
They were so surprised to see me there. [...]
Annie’s attitude
Thursday, December 17th, 2009Today Annie was awarded the Attitude is Everything award. As I have said before this is a feel good award and is given to almost all students.
With that being said, we are pround of Annie for acheiving this. We hope that she continues to have a good attitude for school. She [...]
Goodies with Grandparents
Wednesday, November 25th, 2009Today Annie and Kimberly brought Grammy and Papa to school early to enjoy breakfast with them. They ate bagels, visited with friends and had a nice time. Kimberly and Annie had been anticipating this for a while. They loved every moment and I am sure Grammy and Papa did too.
*I [...]
The Great Pumpkin Pie Baking
Wednesday, November 25th, 2009Every night before Thanksgiving you can find me surrounded by the kids making pumpkin pie filling with my Mother close by making crusts. It is a long time tradition, in fact before there were kids/grandkids it was just her and I. It is such a wonderful time and I am glad we can [...]
Looking up
Wednesday, November 11th, 2009Yesterday was Kimmie and Annie’s 6 year well check. They are growing well and look good. Annie is 1/4 of an inch taller than Kimmie at 43 3/4 inch. Kimmie is 2 pounds heavier than Annie at 44 pounds. They are perfectly proportionate and hovering around the 25th percentiles.
The [...]
Water works
Thursday, November 5th, 2009“Dad Kimmie and Mimi are splashing me!” ~ Annie
“That’s fine since you are all supposed to be showering!” ~ Bill
Oh the drama. How they can turn super simple things into the most dramatic never ceases to amaze me.
