Madeline

Thursday, August 19th, 2010Paul and I are adjusting well to our time without the Girls. He is still lost without their constant direction but he is getting along. He likes to swim and hang out with just Mom. He hasn’t really gotten into playing by himself yet, but I know it will come. We have only been on [...]
I need them more
Tuesday, August 17th, 2010It has become very clear that I need my children more than they need me. Today as I dropped Annie and Kimberly off they rushed off onto the playground. I had to call them back to give me a hug and kiss. (*I had the camera with me and was tempted to pull it out [...]
First Day of School
Monday, August 16th, 2010First Day Sassy Outfits Madeline had her first day in Kindergarten. We celebrated the day with First Day cakes. It was a nice day. The kids all enjoyed their classes, except for the fact that Annie and Kimberly said recess was way to short.
‘Twas the night before school
Sunday, August 15th, 2010Today was the last day of summer for my kids. Tomorrow a new school year begins. Because of this we did some family traditions and started a new one. The kids really took their time in the bath tonight making sure they would be clean enough for school. We reviewed their morning checklist. They laid [...]
My Gymnasts
Monday, August 2nd, 2010It seems as though I am in need of this button. Since it is the end of summer and we needed to place the Girls in their next class the coaches did little evaluations on them. Madeline was evaluated and they found out that she is very talented in the area of gymnastics. Not only [...]
Laundry Helper
Sunday, August 1st, 2010Every week it is the same routine, I wash all the laundry on Saturday and Sunday. I would love to be able to conquer it in one day like I used to but that is just not possible with 6 people wearing clothes, using towels and sleeping in beds, so I was for two days. [...]
Monsoon Showers
Sunday, August 1st, 2010We have finally got into the Monsoon season in Arizona. As a native I love these storms. I love to sit outside and listen to the pitter patter of the rain. I love to go out and sit in the warm drizzle. On Thursday we had quite a big one and the kids wanted to [...]
Underestimate
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010Never underestimate what your children can do. As I mentioned in the last post I didn’t know fully how good of a reader Madeline had become. If I had sat her down to read to me I would have given her a easy reader. At the beginning of summer I had enrolled Paul in the [...]
Avid Reader
Wednesday, July 28th, 2010Madeline is becoming a very avid reader. She has the drive to push herself to read at higher and higher levels. She brought a couple of Little Critter books over for me to read the other day. She said she wanted to try reading them but might need some help. I told her we could [...]
Alive and Well
Thursday, July 22nd, 2010I know I haven’t been posting to the blog lately. It doesn’t have to do with anything in particular, but a lot of little things. Summer is a very busy time for me and we mainly swim, eat, sleep, repeat so there isn’t always so much to blog about. Swim lessons are going very well. [...]
In Motion
Wednesday, July 7th, 2010I love to sit back and watch my children in motion. Each one is so unique and different. They all are getting exactly what they want out of a particular experience and yet not one is the same. There is Annie, often off on her own but playing right by everyone. She wants to be [...]
Perfect Girl
Thursday, July 1st, 2010Today was Madeline’s follow-up to the Neurologist. He review everything and asked what I thought. I told him my views on the situation, that we didn’t want to medicate and that we felt any further intervention was not needed. The next words he spoke shocked me. He said, “I agree, she is absolutely perfect.” He [...]
1st Day of Summer and a Chill
Monday, June 21st, 2010We got the group up and headed down to the beach. Despite the fact that it was the first day of summer, it was quite chilly down at the beach. Once there Bill set up our camp area and we started playing. Grammy brought a bag of toys and taught the kids how to play [...]
Beachy Keen
Sunday, June 20th, 2010This morning we woke up and had breakfast in the beach house. Grammy made waffles and I made eggs and bacon. We all ate our breakfast and then got ready to head down to the beach. With all our gear in hand we headed out. The beach was so nice and quiet when we arrived. [...]
Go time
Saturday, June 19th, 2010This morning I was woken up by the youngest at my bedside. He said, “Today I going to the beach Mom!” He really had no idea what the beach was but he is good at joining in when the girls are excited. The kids got themselves dressed, we got showered, and we headed out of [...]
What to do now?
Wednesday, June 9th, 2010Since I posted the results of Madeline’s seizure I have had many phone calls and emails from people asking what we do next in regards to Madeline’s care. The answer is simple, we do what we have always done, love her as much as we can and never take a day for granted. No one [...]
Curving
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010At Madeline’s 5 year old well check the doctor noticed a slight curve in her spine. We were sent to have an x-ray done. It turns out she has a 8.6 degree curve in her spine. Anything under 10 is fine. The Doctor will monitor it each year to make sure it doesn’t worsen. *This [...]
Sometimes Damage is the Best Option
Monday, June 7th, 2010We received the results of Madeline’s MRI today. She has had a static event (ie. seizure) sometime since her last MRI in 2007 that made her have brain damage. This is the reason her left side is weaker. The good news is that this damage happened once, meaning it isn’t some sort of deterioration. It [...]
Day 5 and the Release
Saturday, June 5th, 2010We woke up this morning bright and early in order to get ready for the MRI Mimi was scheduled to do at 8 AM. The wonderful technician came in to remove the EEG from Mimi’s head. She was so happy when it was removed and she could move about the room with ease. We waited [...]
Day 4 in the PEMU
Friday, June 4th, 2010Mimi finally fell asleep around 11 last night. We were awoken at 5:30 by Grammy with donuts. Grammy played Memory with Mimi and I before she had to get going. The doctors came in and we continued to discuss the options in Madeline’s care. We decided that we would give this whole thing 24 more [...]
