Swim away

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Paul and I have been taking swimming lessons while the Girls are. He really has been doing well and it certainly beats sweating in the heat.

I wasn’t able to get photographs the first day of class, but last week my soon-to-be sister in law came to the pool and took some pics for me.

Splish Splash

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Today we met Erinn and Mikaleigh at the Splash Pad near our house.

If you compare that photograph with this previous one just 4 months ago you will be able to see how big of a growth spurt my little man has taken.
The kids always have such a fun time there and [...]

We’re stuck

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Today Paulie had his growth check and shot appointment. He has finally begun growing on a regular basis! Woohoo! I think this is due to the fact that he has finally become accustomed to our food and has a regular sleeping pattern.
He weighs in at 23 pounds and 31 inches [...]

18 months old

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Happy official 18 months dear Paulie! You are growing up and maturing and I like it. I love seeing your bloom and getting to know your personality more.
I am trying really hard to let the fact that he most likely isn’t really 18 months old today slide. Most days I [...]

Poor little man

Monday, June 8th, 2009

As we drove into the garage tonight after dinner Paul started screaming, “da da. Da da.” Unfortunately it was just his car and not Daddy, he won’t be home until later. My poor little man.
Tonight Paul had his first phone conversation where he said Da da to Daddy and responded to his [...]

Eating habits

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

The other night we had some friends over for swimming and a bbq. They brought corn on the cob and it was Paul’s first experience with it. He had a hard time figuring it out until he came up with his own plan. He laid the corn on the table and leaned [...]

Choo Choo!

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Paul loves trains. It is so cute to hear him toddling around saying “choo choo.” I think this is going to become an obsession of his.

Amazing

Monday, June 1st, 2009

It has been 6 months since I was in Ethiopia meeting my son for the first time. The experience still has me choked up. It is hard to put into words all that I experienced and saw.
Paul seems like he has always been a part of our family and yet when I [...]

Paul’s first haircut

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

It was finally time to cut Mr. Man’s fro. It was getting pretty long and due to the state of his hair when he was in the orphanage it needed that older stuff cut off badly. I set out to find a barber shop which was a little harder than I expected. [...]

74 hours later

Monday, May 25th, 2009

It isn’t often that Bill has to work a ton of hours but once in a while a big deadline comes up and it is crunch time. This means that not only is it crunch time for him it is for us as well.
I take it in stride. While I enjoy having [...]

Old Friends

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Today while surfing the internet Paul was sitting on the desk watching me. He was mainly poking my eyes or getting in the way of me reading anything on the screen but that is what he does best. I pulled up a blog that I read about a family who adopted two children [...]

Transitional

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Today we had Paul’s endocrinologist appointment. The doctor believes that Paul’s hypothyroid issue may be related to his malnourishment during his first year and the big changes that have occurred in his life.
The doctor wouldn’t share the specific number with me but said he would forward it to the regular doctor. [...]

Just because blackmail can be fun

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Sometimes you just have to run and grab your camera and snap a pic. Yesterday afternoon was one of those kinds of days. Guess who is under that sun hat?

Yep, it is none other than the glamorous Paul Brown.

He had been wandering around the yard for some time wearing the [...]

Second Post Placement

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Today we had our second post placement visit. It went off without a hitch. Things are moving along pretty easily for us. Whether it is because of Paul’s demanor or our experience we aren’t experiencing any real serious issues, besides medical but really we are on the track to fix [...]

Re-elect Mayor Goldie Wilson

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Long time friends and family know that my favorite all time movie is Back to the Future. I love all three and watch them from time to time. So last night when we went out to In-N-Out Burger I was reminded of this scene.
Goldie Wilson: [rushes up to George] Say! What do you [...]

Thank God it isn’t swine flu

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

My Paulie has been sick again. He wasn’t getting better so I took him in. I suspected he had strep throat because it was being passed around at preschool. While the big Girls didn’t get it my little man did. He is on antibiotics now.
As to [...]

Mommy and Daddy

Monday, April 27th, 2009

Little Paul can now say Mommy and Daddy! He says it deliberately and means it!
He also can say the word “more”. It is so wonderful to see this growth of the English language begin in him.
At Mimi’s tea party he drank from an open tea cup and didn’t spill [...]

Our court date

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

We got notice from the courts today. Paul’s court date will be September 23rd, 2009.
If you are thinking that is a long way off then you are thinking the same thing as us. I can’t believe that the courts are moving so slowly, to think that I thought that the two month wait for [...]

My growing boy

Friday, April 10th, 2009

Paul had his check up this morning with the regular doctor. He is growing well and has gained a lot in height and head circumference. Woohoo!
The bad news is that he is now healthy enough to begin his shots. My poor boy never had shots before. Imagine his disgust when he got [...]

Baking day

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

I have been trying to do more baking lately. I made a resolution for myself that I would learn more cooking basics and learn to cook more things.
I also want to make time to learn to cook more. I am the kind of cook who can whip something up out of basics, [...]
