Exciting week

Sunday, August 31st, 2003

This past week, while Bill was out of town, was a nerve-wracking week. I knew it was going to be a long week because I had parent orientation on Tues. night, Annie’s doctor appointment on Wed., and Kimberly’s appointment on Thurs. But when I went to Annie’s doctor appointment on Wed., it got even longer. [...]

Things are Shaping Up

Wednesday, July 30th, 2003

Things are finally shaping up around the Brown Manor. Prior to this picture, the walls were painted a Winnie-the-Pooh gold and bore inscriptions along the roofline from Winnie the Pooh stories. Neither Sandi or I are Pooh-heads, so those were slated for removal as soon as possible. As you can see, the room is a [...]

Poem

Tuesday, July 15th, 2003

Somebody sent me this poem and it spoke to me so much that I wanted to post it. This poem makes me cry and makes me stronger. Here it goes: What Makes a Mother By Jennifer Wasik I thought of you and closed my eyes And prayed to God today. I asked what makes a [...]

19 weeks!

Tuesday, June 10th, 2003

We’ve made it to 19 weeks today and all is well. Sandi hasn’t thrown up for an entire week now and is generally doing splendid. My co-worker showed me a site featuring bad baby names as a cautionary tale. They are really bizarre.

Hospital Visit

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2003

This morning Sandi had heavy-duty cramping in her abdomen that made her double over in pain. It lessened the rest of the day, down to just a mild twitching that hurt just a little. She called her doctor’s office and a nurse suggested that she go to the emergency room. We met at home and [...]

BabyBeat

Monday, April 21st, 2003

It turns out that the heartbeat we’ve been hearing was Sandi‘s and that we had miscalculated. We haven’t gotten a solid lock on the heartbeat thus far, but we’ve heard some faint whushing that sounds like a fainter version of Sandi’s heartbeat so we still feel good about the pregnancy. We have other indications—daily vomiting, [...]

BabyBeat again

Thursday, April 17th, 2003

We received our BabyBeat doppler yesterday and tried it out. It was hard to find the heartbeat because a) we weren’t sure what it would sound like on the unit and b) we weren’t really sure where to look. If you’re interested in getting a BabyBeat doppler radar, please use the referral code of BR048014. [...]

Second Ultrasound

Thursday, April 3rd, 2003

As promised, below are the two ultrasounds from the latest doctor visit. For the record, they’re at 7 weeks:

The Doctor’s Visit

Thursday, March 20th, 2003

We had a great doctor‘s appointment, even though it was nearly two hours after our scheduled time. Bleh. We heard the heartbeat (150 bpm), saw a larger circle (9.1mm), and got our weeks pregnant/due date (7 weeks/5 Nov 2003). We also found out that Sandi tested negative for Fifth’s Disease, which means that she’s at [...]

Our First Appointment

Tuesday, March 18th, 2003

Tomorrow is our first appointment with the doctor, so expect some news.

Pregnancy Update

Thursday, March 13th, 2003

I think Bill’s view of the ultrasound machine was obscured. He was unable to see the fetus in the black circle. Of course it just looks like a little white curl inside the big black circle. We are both very excited and hope that everything turns out alright. We are on high risk status currently [...]

More Appointment News

Thursday, March 13th, 2003

We had our first appointment on Monday and also got our first ultrasound: It’s very difficult to see—the red arrow is only marginally more helpful—but it’s very easy to describe: black circle. My baby is a black circle deep within Sandi and I call it Junior, even though I have no idea—subconsciously or not—whether it’s [...]
